DiGiorgio Family Wines head for Rome to please the papal palate.
DiGiorgio Family Wines have been chosen to be part of official January 26 celebrations on the left bank of the Tiber River, just near St Peter's Basilica.
Tim Fisher, Australia's official ambassador to the Holy See has given SA's world famous wine region a leading role at the official celebrations.
This was announced yesterday by SA Tourism and the Australian Embassy to the Holy See. "It was at Penola that Mary MacKillop established her first school, in January 1866, leading to her formation of the sisters of St Joseph," Tim Fisher said. "It will greatly help that the "Terra Rossa" Coonawarra wine region has stepped up to the mark and will supply wine from this famous region on the evening of the function, wine produced from the rich red soils of this part of South Australia and which have a worldwide reputation for excellence."
DiGiorgio Family wines along with Zema Estate wines will be featured at the function. "A fantatsic opportunity for Coonawarra" says Frank DiGiorgio, "we are very proud to have been chosen and look forward to the event".
